Scientists fear a potential eco' disaster since discovering 7% of our insect species vanished in the last century. The Fen Raft spider, found in a reserve on the Norfolk Suffolk border, is among those most threatened.

Records dating back to 1904 reveal that around 400 species are now extinct, including the black-veined white butterfly, the Essex emerald moth and the short-haired bumblebee.
