Probably the coolest site in Britain. The toilets need an upgrade, the general facilities are basic at best, and there was no electricity when we visited. But we think you’ve got to go a long way to beat Cae Du Campsite for class.
.
Once you’ve queued for the loo and powered the showers for a pound, sit back and enjoy the scenery. Nothing quite beats watching the sunset here, but take a windbreak just in case. The sea breezes blow more than a vegetarian on baked beans.
.
If you’re  lucky, you get to see dolphins at dusk and dawn.
.
Some traditional rules and reg’s are set aside in favour of honest, neighbourly common sense. Don’t be put off. This is the quitest camp in Britain after dusk. Not one for the ravers.
.
Campfires are allowed. Driftwood litters the beach – although worth taking some along. The farmer and his wife allow dogs at no charge. Shops nearby sell all the basics, including wine and beer.

  1. Heard so many good reports. It was everything we hoped.

Some great walks along the coast and even further so pack some decent hiking gear. Lots of rock pools for the kids to have fun in.
    Beach combing is fun too.

Co-op is nearby. No hook-up. Goodie!

The farmer and his wife are the kindest people.

  2. Nothing beats an open fire, listening to the waves and the beautiful views across the bay.

Gets a bit blowy at times so don’t forget a decent windbreak.

  3. What a site. The views are stunning and the campers are OK too! We will be back.

    Showers clean and tidy.

  4. Coastal walks are excellent. Everyone so friendly, even the owners.

The children were so excited to see that fires were actually encouraged on the beach.

Lots for the kids to do nearby too.

  5. Showers don’t stay on long enough.

The drive down to the site is a bit narrow and we missed the turning on the way in. Be careful.

  6. Oh what a glorious site. If you are lucky with the weather, this is probably the best camping experience will ever have. It was for us when we visited in July!

The managers were very, very helpful.

  7. Fabulous place. Have been many times after hearing about it from a neighbour a couple of years ago.
I run a small group (only 4 members so far!) on flickr.
Like others I`ve found the owners to be very helpful and welcoming.
Although facilities are basic, I almost prefer that because it keeps its beautiful simplicity.

  8. My favourite campsite, beautifully peaceful and the campfires make the evenings something else. Farmer and his wife are very helpful, my car has broken down more than once and they were great! wish we could keep this site a secret!

  9. Found this site by accident. What a wonderful place. Off again this weekend can’t wait. Weather forecast terrible but don’t care!! Can highly recommend (site not weather)

  10. Yes… simply superb. Thanks for posting, Liz
